Weekend Getaway

We decided that the Weber family was long overdue for a real family vacation. So, this past weekend we packed up and headed for good old Newport OR. This may seem like kind of a lame vacation to some, but the kiddos loved it, and we had a great time spending money we didn't have :) The first stop was the Oregon Coast Aquarium.

Hailey was intrigued by the octopus, and loved to watch it move it's many legs. She also found it a little creepy at times.

Travis enjoyed just sitting back and taking it all in. He is such a happy baby!

It's hard to tell, but this picture was taken in the water tunnels, where you are completely surrounded by water and fish. She wasn't sure what to make of it, and got really surprised when she looked down and saw herself walking on water and fish...We got a good laugh at her expense.

I love it! My boys decided not to pass up this photo opp. They look like such dorks.

And this was Hailey living up the good life in our Hotel...Yes that's right folks, I said HOTEL! I make such a big deal about this because we are so cheap normally, that we would rather sleep at a rest area then fork out even 40 bucks! But for this short weekend getaway, we decided to go all out and actually stay somewhere kind of nice. It was a blast, and Hailey enjoyed having her own large bed to lay in. I enjoyed the cable and the gorgeous view of the ocean out the window. It was amazing.

After visiting the Newport ward on Sunday, we walked along the beach before heading home. It was a beautiful sunny, warm day; perfect for enjoying the beach.

Hailey decided to try and make a sand castle.

She got very wet and sandy in the process, so we decided to take off her pants...That was ultimately a bad idea.

And here Hailey decided to smash her castle, then roll around in its remains. She not only got sand in her mouth as you can see, but got sand in a lot of other unnatural places. She was very uncomfortable for a while as you might imagine. All in all, she really didn't mind. We had a great trip, and can't wait to do it again...When the Kidd's are a little older that is :)

Spring Fun!

So here are some fun pictures from this spring, to update everyone on our life. I never blogged about Easter, so here are some cute pictures from that. The rest of the pictures are just for fun. I think my kids are pretty darn cute, and I want everyone to be able to enjoy some fun pictures of them. Enjoy!

My children's eating habits take after me. Trust me when I say they come by it honestly. Actually when Kelly and I first started dating, he would take me out to dinner a lot, and I dripped food onto my clothes somewhere every time. I guess it's genetic.

This is why I LOVE Spring. Hailey was totally fascinated with watching the tulips grow and bloom. I'm sad that they are all starting to die by now.

Yes, those are shorts and T-shirt in April....Sorry for those of you who have been experiencing snow.

TERRIBLE TWO'S

I cant believe how I've spent the last 40 minutes of my life...I know they say that two's are terrible, but at the Weber household two is just plain psycho!!!

It all started when Hailey refused to take a nap this afternoon, and worsened when I attempted to go grocery shopping a little later. A much desired peaceful shopping trip ended up with a screaming Hailey either on my hip or trying to jump out of the cart the whole time. That I could handle, but I must admit she was wearing me down. So around dinner time, Hailey came up to me and demanded that I take her to the potty and help her go. Now let me just clarify for those who think I may have overreacted to her demand. Hailey is perfectly able to use the potty all by herself, and had been doing so for months. She simply has a nasty streak in her, that tops the charts when she is tired.

Well, I told her "no", then pointed out to her that she did not need help, and the potty was just down the hall. She went crazy and began to throw tantrum after tantrum until she REALLY had to go potty. She was dancing around and holding her crotch, but refused to use the potty unless I carried her there and sat her on it. Well, that was definitely NOT going to happen, and the battle of wills continued. She even got so desperate for relief that she ran into the bathroom screaming to use the potty, then remembered that she wanted me to do it, and ran back out to yell at me! This happened about 3 different times, and I didn't quite know how to react to that... The girl in nuts. I was also taking care of her sick brother at time, and she was scaring him by screaming and yelling, and hitting me. When the hitting started, I put the baby down, and put her on time out...She didn't stay on time out of coarse, she just kept on hitting and screaming at me.

Well, I warned her that if she peed on the floor, she was going straight to bed...After holding it as long as she possibly could, I heard an "uh oh mommy!" She peed her pants on the floor, and was thrown into bed. She was so tired that she didn't even fight me too much, She tried to get out 2 0r 3 times, then gave up and fell asleep.

Can you believe that? I am so glad that that is over, but since she is clearly even more stubborn then I was as as child, I have my work cut out for me in the years to come I'm sure. Wish me luck!

A Day At The Beach

I am always amazed by the beauty of Oregon beaches. We love to try and make a day trip to the coast at least once or twice a year, and it always takes my breath away. I have to admit that while I find the coast beautiful, I am not exactly its biggest fan ever. I hate being wet and cold, and I often get sick from the ocean air (too fishy and moist I guess). But we had a great day, and the weather was perfect- sunny and only a few quick drizzles. But best of all the kids had a blast, and that always makes it worth a trip.

The above pictures are of our short lived crabbing venture on the docks of Old Town. We spent the day with our friends Amanda and Jed, and they brought a crab pot along. We tried to bait the crabs with chicken legs, but we had no luck (I know, chicken legs? Jed swears by them, so I guess we will take his word for it).

Travis doesn't get out much as you might imagine at 8 months of age, and he loved spending a whole day outdoors. I guess I should really get him in the great outdoors more often.

Hailey was kind of a stinker at first, but eventually she warmed up to the whole thing. She really got into crabbing, and enjoyed the sand candles we made later that afternoon

She didn't so much enjoy the waves of the ocean, so her father of coarse with his sick sense of humor kept forcing her to go near them, then laughed as she ran away in terror (I really nabbed myself a prince :)

It really was a great day, and hopefully it won't be too long before we make it back again!

A Fun Visit

The after shot: This is the first year since we moved here that we are not the most white trash house on the block! We actually got off our rear ends, weeded the flower beds, and put down bark-o-mulch. You may be looking at this photo and thinking "big deal, it still looks like crud," but although it's not a vast improvement, trust me when I say our yard looks a lot better.

Uncle Alex came for a visit, so being the kind considerate hosts we are, we put him to work! He was nice enough to use his truck to pick up the bark, and help us spread it out. We really enjoyed having him (and not just because he did so much work :)

The kids loved having their uncles come visit. Uncle Adam came too, but unfortunately became very ill so we didn't torture him by taking pictures. Hailey was very sad that they had to go so soon, but we look forward to visiting with them this summer when we go to Idaho (or "hi ho" as Hailey calls it)
