A Little Worse Than We Thought

So we went to Slocum Friday afternoon to get a hard cast put on Hailey's arm...We waited for an hour before the Doctor showed up, then were taken back for more x-rays. Come to find out Hailey's break was more serious than we originally thought. Her elbow was apparently dislocated and if it wasn't fixed her arm would ultimately be deformed. We were then told that Hailey would have to have surgery the following morning, and a metal rod may have to be placed in her bone to protect if from breaking further when the elbow was set. We were once again scared to death for our little girl, not to mention our camping trip was not going to happen. Saturday morning at 6:30 we reported to River Bend Hospital for surgery. Thankfully all went well, and Hailey didn't have to have the metal rod put in after all. This picture is of Hailey's ride home from the hospital. We had to prop pillows all around her arm, with an ice pack on top. She was quite cozy and finally took a nap. She has been almost herself again since.

After her nap Hailey had a movie day at home. She was perky and happy, and generally back to good old Hailey. She is doing great with one arm, in fact we call her the one armed wonder because she is very independent and insists on doing everything for herself. We met up with family and friends Sunday afternoon at Honeymon Campground and nothing could hold Hailey back. We all had a blast, and Hailey is well on her way to a full recovery...we hope!!!

Oh little Hailey....I'm glad to hear that she is doing a little better. Hopefully it's all down hill from here. She's so cute sitting in her chair. I love that picture. She's adorable...cast and all.
